Just came back from London and all I can say is "MIND THE DELAYS"

Waited 35 minutes at Notting hill gate for a District train. I have seen 1 Circle line train Anticklockwise and that one was so extreem crowded that it really looked like a Tokyo express. I I wasn't able to board that train. Clockwise I have seen around 15 trains... al waiting at red signals and standing in tunnels for minutes.....

Saturday morning I tried to get to KX... Departed from Earls Court.... At Bayswater.. train cancelled due to technical error... At Great portland street a train infront of us wich couldn't operate at normal speeds....

I arrived at KX 20 minutes later then Planned. Lucky for me the Blue Pullman was still there

Never use the Circle/District line between Earl's Court and Baker Street.

It's just stupid.

Lol, yes, you can see my front door from the station. I practically live on the platform. And I can tell you, it's an arse having to change at Chalfont & Latimer AND Moor Park just to go see my gran in Pinner.

Alright, even though it means paying the peak cap and leaving at six in the morning.

That was just an example - I use the tube a lot and not just to visit my grandma. I'm very grateful to have the Underground serve Chesham, I don't know what I'd do without it. Probably move. I'm quite worried that it won't be too long before TFL starts thinking about axing Chesham, but that seems to be unfounded so far.

I hope they don't axe it - it's my favourite station and the Met is my favourite line.

I use it every day too but down at the City end for getting home.

It's not the least used station in the network- Shoreditch is used less, as are the Stations between Hainault & Woodford- however I can't think of any other stations

I'm aware we haven't been on topic for a while, but I was just surprised that anyone could like the Metropolitan line best. The trains, especially the Chalfont shuttle, are old, smelly, vandalised and the ride is bumpy. I much prefer the more modern trains, but each to their own. It is nice not to have to be in tunnels the whole time, at least there's scenery.

As for it being your favourite station, I feel (strangely) slightly honoured that you think so highly of my little station. On the one hand, I love it too, the single track being very quaint, the garden is nice and the surroundings on the track to Chalfont are lovely, but it's an absolute pain in the backside having only one train every half an hour off-peak, and having to change at Chalfont for central london, as I said.

I just realised I described it as "my" station, so I must love it too .

My favourite station is Farringdon. It has a very interesting layout.

Has to be Westminster for me (Been through the MPs entrance too!) but favourite Line is the Victoria

I love Westminster station because of the way the escalators going down to the Jubilee line are just in the middle of exposed concrete and all that, and not surrounded by false ceilings etc. It looks quite cool, sort of pseudo-futuristic.

Oh, undoubtedly. It's my favourite too, followed by Southwark, also a very "pseudo-futuristic" station, although slightly more restrained one.
But I love going along the track at Wimbledon Park - gorgeous scenery.

And let's not forget Fairlop and that. In fact, most of the upper reaches of the Central line is in glorious countryside. Most refreshing!

Okay, a slight bump, but is this actually going ahead now or what? It's been over a month since this thread saw any activity.

Having given the subject more thought, I think it would be better to avoid doing it near to the 7th of July, for obvious reasons. Also, I'm sure the charities and families got enough money from last year, plus whatever is raised this year, to keep them going.

I'm intending to do 275 this summer. I have heard whispers of lots of others vaguely referring to "this summer" when talking about their next attempt - I presume because it will be warmer, and because of holidays.

I propose that we try and get as many teams to do it on one agreed day as possible. Not for charity, just serious record attempts. And fun, of course! See what the people on this forum are really made of.
