I've read the article and I don't think "Majorism" could be described as an ideology. Major was far more of a pragmatist. The reason why some of his policies were different from Thatcher's is that the Thatcherite policies had failed - e.g. the poll tax. He actually continued with some aspects of the Thatcherite agenda that Thatcher wouldn't consider, such as rail privatisation.

Another big difference, of course, was that Thatcher had a three-figure majority while Major (after the 1992 election) only had a 21-seat majority, so he had to compromise - something that the current PM (with an even smaller majority) would be well to take heed of.

Among the achievements of the current government you mention "driving down unemployment through the Work Programme". Wasn't there a report recently saying that the Work Programme had been no more successful in getting people into work than previous similar initiatives? And I'm not sure how that makes them "Majorite" - I don't recall a similar programme under the Major government. It was essentially a replacement for Labour's New Deal.

You also say that "David Cameron is a pure Majorite when it comes to Europe" because he's given us a referendum on Britain's EU membership. John Major certainly didn't!

Well, even if we lose, if Bob keeps his seat (and thus I keep my job) I'll be OK. At least Starmer isn't dangerous like Corbyn was.
