Zone 1 2011 with Tangy (and Roger)

Post by tangy »

Welcome to Zone 1 2011

Just an advance note to say this year, the annual Zone 1 challenge will be held on Friday 3rd June 2011.

Timetable:
Meet up time: 1200-1215
Start station draw: 1215
Challenge start time: 1300 (from the station that was drawn out)

These times will be strictly adhered to, please be on time.

Meeting Station/Point:
The meeting point is the area outside the McDonalds at Liverpool Street. For those who don't know, exit onto the National Rail concourse and take the stairs/escalator opposite platforms 2 and 3 up to street level. Alternatively this location is opposite the Old Broad Street entrance to the Underground.

If this area is too busy, then we will be meeting opposite bus stop S on Liverpool Street itself (simply cross over the bus station access road from McDonalds). I will be in some Tube Map related clothing to aid recognition.

After challenge pub:
After the challenge, we will be meeting at the Horse & Groom (128 Great Portland Street) for the results, Zone 1 quiz and of course, some darts. We will be in the upstairs bar.

Register:
Even though I have posted these details it would be very helpful, if you haven't already done so, to send me an Expression of Interest (registration) so I know who is attending or not and the numbers involved.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

So with just a few weeks to go what is the Z1 ruling on TCR?
I assume that as Central Line trains are stopping then a Northen line pass through would not count :?:

As Central Line trains are stopping at TCR as normal, for your route to be valid only a visit on the Central Line at TCR will be accepted. A pass through on the Northern Line only will not count.

Therefore please ensure your route planning takes the above into account.

I'm a bit confused with the stations at Paddington. Is it like this?

Paddington (H+C and Circle from or to Hammersmith)

AND

Paddington (Bakerloo, District and Circle line to or from Edware road

That's pretty much it, but I would say that instead of saying to or from Edgware Road, I would say to or from Bayswater. Since trains going through Edgware Road towards Hammersmith will only call at Paddington 'H&C'

Hi all,

Long time, no see! I'm delighted to inform you that I'll be taking part in this year's Z1CC. I find it extra challenging with the TCR restriction. Lots of new routes! Missing out last year, the new Circle also makes it different for me. I'm also trying to bring some Swedish company - we'll see.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Echo that my friend, all of my routes are now re-filed for 2012 as they do TCR on the Northern line....And my only ever sub 3 hour Z1 from a Goodge Street start a couple of years back sadly missed out TCR altogether

Be great to see you again :D

Yes, like last year you need to send me your "Expressions of Interest" to me. This is primarily to know who is attendin to give an indication of the number of people and also to know who to send messages to as to the location of the meet up point.

Please do not send them just yet, plesae await further instructions.
