Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
You may be from Nottingham, but that's quick. I've promised myself that when/if the Southern extension ever happens then I'll have a crack at it.

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
I am not from Nottingham. I am from the city that actually is the greatest in the East Midlands, despite what Nottingham thinks. That, my friend, is Leicester.
I'm sure it can be achieved in under an hour. Also, Highbury Vale is listed as two separate stops, so both sets of platforms must be done.

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
Actually, now you've said it, I somehow think that I mistakingly thought that you were from Nottinghm before too, and having said something about this to you, you told me that you were in fact from Leicester. Clearly I was only half listening, so my appolagies for making the same mistake not once but twice!

Indeed.
By the way, chaps, yours truly is gracing Sheffield on Saturday the 12th of June. Who's up for a spot of Supertram and public transport banter?

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
Can't see anything wrong with that date, what's the plan?
If you want a public transport related pub to meet up at then the Sheffield Tap on platform one of Sheffield station seems the perfect place! I know GU, Matt & co went on a Northern tour for the pub stations, so if we can think of something meaningful to it in with we may get them along too!
Along with the Supertram and Travel South Yorkshire challenge clearly there's the Manchester Metrolink and MerseyRail yet to be tackled. A random 15 of West Yorkshire? Or maybe a most number of stations visited in set amount of time challenge. Any further thoughts?

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
I don't think I'll be able to do anything that's far out of Sheffield that day, but I think perhaps a Supertram race followed by the pub should do. We could draw up ideas for West Yorkshire, Manchester, MerseyRail and others.
This should probably be discussed in the Supertram thread...

I travelled a couple of stops on this last week, enough to notice the map and ask the following question:
Is Highbury Vale one stop or two?

I have counted it as two, because the platforms are listed separately in the timetable: Main Line and Branch.

I don't see how interpreting it as one or two stops would actually affect your journey or timings...Adham wrote:I have counted it as two, because the platforms are listed separately in the timetable: Main Line and Branch.

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
If it is one stop then you could run from Phoenix Park to Bulwell rather than doubling back, it probably wouldn't be quicker though.

Re: Nottingham Transit Challenge
It wouldn't be, and now having studied the map, I'm wondering why they went to the expense of building two stops instead of one on the mainline south of the junction...greatkingrat wrote:If it is one stop then you could run from Phoenix Park to Bulwell rather than doubling back, it probably wouldn't be quicker though.
