Are you at Canary Wharf?
(that was an edit from Deptford Bridge when I saw that RichieG beat me to it, and then Phil also..., and then I realised it's also on the Jub... so fail)

Re: Where Am I? Quiz 10
This quiz has given me a couple of ideas for tweaking the rules slightly more with regard to the type of questions that can be asked.
Give me a sec to make a cup of tea and I'll come back and explain my thinking.

That's odd, I didn't get the message telling me that someone else had posted in the topic whilst I had written my post, so we must have posted at exactly the same time! Ah well, I was beaten to it anyhow.

In writing the latter post, ironically I got it three separate times. For the one where it mattered, I didn't so I punched the air in delight. My celebrations were soon subdued, but well done on beating me anyhow Rich. At least it went to a fellow non Londoner!Edgemaster wrote:I got the message twice...

Entirely out of personal intrigue, and not because I doubt you, how do you get that information to the second? It only displays to the nearest minute on the forum, so did you get off your email update? Or have I just missed something pretty obvious?scrxisi wrote:Richie's is showing as 16 seconds before yours. In metaphor world, you were probably both running up the separate staircases to the station at the same time, but one was icier than the other and Richie prevailed...

You can change what the timestamp for posts looks like in your user settings; I assume that is what Matt has done
Attempts: 2 (17h38m, 238 stations) (unknown, 200 stations); Completions: 0; GWR: 0; PBs: 0.

Re: Where Am I? Quiz 10
OK, I was thinking during that game that after a few questions you can have it down to only a few stations remaining on one stretch of line. This means that all you have to do is guess "are you at X?", "are you at Y?" until someone gets it right.
To me this seems a bit automatic so why don't we make it do that you can't guess the exact station until after question 15 or some other arbitrary question number? Before then you have to use your creative powers to come up with questions that narrow down the field without asking stuff that's too specific.
For example, I'm not a huge fan of questions such as "are you on the District line?", "are you on the DLR?" etc. (yes, I asked that question I know). I think things like that can narrow it down too early and I'd rather encourage some creative questioning. My "west of a line ..." question eliminated a third of the map in a stroke instead of wasting three questions on which line he was on. A similar question later got rid of the next third.
At the end of the day we'll never make it so the hider can stay undetected all the way through but I'd rather not have every game follow the same line of questioning from start to finish with the first question always being "are you on the tube?"
What does everyone think?
