Were trains actually running that day? If not, how did you get on to the platform?

You can indeed get this view at this station without passing through the barriers, as I have used this station many times in the past few years.

Also, if trains weren't running that day then why are train times shown on the dot matrix indicator?

I can't answer the one about the dot matrix indicator, though in fact I know who took this photo and when; and indeed all services from this station were suspended at the time.

The station was a very snowy Kew Gardens and the photo was taken by the ever lovely Annie Mole.
