New Circle Line from 14th Dec

Post by greatkingrat »

The timetables for the new extended Circle/T-Cup are now in the Journey Planner.

Off-peak frequencies will be
3tph H&C Hammersmith - Plaistow
3tph H&C Hammersmith - Barking
6tph Circle Hammersmith - Edgware Rd - Aldgate - Victoria - Edgware Rd
6tph Dist Wimbledon - Edgware Rd
3tph Dist Olympia - High Street Kensington

From a Tube Challenge point of view, the increased Hammersmith service will be good, but the Olympia will be even more annoying than it is now.

Frequency down the 'Lympy' was every 16.5 to 18.5 minutes according to my District Line working timetable from 2001. :)

Looks like an even 20 minute off-peak service departing Olympia at 05 25 45 with the peak times varying slightly.

I won't miss 19 minute waits at Hammersmith (H&C).

Of course, someone's going to have to contact Guinness to ask them if Paddington is now considered as one station for the purposes of GWR attempts. If it is then we've just lost another station and we're down to 269. We are currently at 270 with Wood Lane having opened aren't we?

For the pruposes of Zone 1 I say it should now be counted as one station, which should bring the times down a bit and make route-planning a little easier.

Well, it's one of those silly grey areas now.

The current circle line platforms will be used for circle line trains only. The current H&C platforms will be used by "circle line" trains to/from Edgware Road and by "H&C" trains to/from Barking. So how do you designate a line to the current H&C platforms?

The platforms aren't moving. If it was two stations before, then it will still be two stations after the changes.

Well physicallty yes, but the H&C platform is now no longer exclusively an H&C platform.

Of course, I'm only going on about it because I've always maintained Paddington should be ONE station, as it's all in the same building and on the same site, but there you go ...

Should stay as two stations in my opinion. I reckon Neil only wants it changed because he doesn't fancy the run between Bakerloo and H&C/Circle!

I hate that run, plus I'm now in a position to be recognised by people at Paddington as I do so.
