Attempt this Friday
A couple of quick questions.
A team of us are planning to attempt the challenge this Friday. Do we need to notify Guinness before the attempt? I have done all the form filling in and sending and received back from them the rules etc., but this was a couple of months ago, does there need to be some sort of, 'okay, we're doing it now'?
Also a problem which we seem to gloss over every time we talk about it is the independent stopwatch. How do other people solve this issue? It's not difficult to find someone to be there at the end but there's not so many takers for the start.

Re: Attempt this Friday
If you're starting after half past five at Heathrow this Friday, I might be able to start your watch! But I'm jetting off at 7:35am, so I shan't be able to pass the watch to anyone else.

Depending on where u starting i might be able to spare the time u have to let me kno quite quickly though.

Re: Attempt this Friday
Starting in Amersham for our first attempt. Should be a warm one!
Re: Attempt this Friday
Worst case scenario for Mike and his team a later Amersham start 05.53 with no way of getting to Chesham due to suspension of line.

Re: Attempt this Friday
mike and team Restarted now from Chesham start time 05.56.40 this is turning out to be 1 unlucky attempt for them with problems in that north west corner. The Watford branch is stuffed up as well the network seems to be falling apart at the seams.

Re: Attempt this Friday
Team have been sat at Chalfront waiting 15 mins for a train to Amersham thinking of giving up.This has to be a case for the worst unlucky start ever in the history of tube challenging.

Re: Attempt this Friday
It was even worse than that. After our restart at Chesham, at 05.56, we ended up spending half an hour sat between Chalfont and Chesham due to another signal failure in the Chalfont region.
We decided to give up.

Re: Attempt this Friday
Has anyone ever given up before even departing on the first train due to its massive lateness into the station?

Re: Attempt this Friday
That is terrible luck guys, hope you are more fortunate if you try again...
I think the worst start we had was missing the Moor Park connection and due to signal problems or possibly over running engineering works we spend nearly 45 mins there
We did carry on at as that was when the record was more realistcally beatable.........

Re: Attempt this Friday
So...
Four months ago we had possibly the worst attempt at the full network challenge ever (see posts above).
Well, we're back to break the record (the world record that is, not our own least successful record).
Four of us will be attempting the record on Monday November 16th starting again at Amersham.
(Do weekend engineering works tend to run over on to Mondays?)
Would anyone be able to head up to Amersham and start the stopwatch, or, failing that, at least be able to remotely record the time at which we start (and perhaps finish!).
Cheers,
Mike
