This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Re: Photo Quiz 7.16
Whilst I didn't used to live TOO near this station, I did use it for a while as part of my route home from work. I had several routes home and I used to switch between them to make it interesting.

Re: Photo Quiz 7.16
I use it to go to work whenever I'm lost.
Edit: having looked at the photo, I've just realised I was researching this station earlier for a quiz down the line! Now if only I can remember which one it was...

If I worked at this station, I would use it on the way to work. Unless I used an alternative route to make things interesting, which would involve walking 150 miles.

It was a fun, civilised and quiet way of getting from Feltham to Euston Square to go non-stop to West Hampstead on the (now defunct) Basingstoke-Colchester train and change onto the Met at Finchley Road. However, there was no suitable train back in the evening.I used to use it on my way to work, but not on the way home.

What a bizarre route! You might just as well timetable a train from Slough to Purfleet ... why would anyone want such a train?
Re: Photo Quiz 7.16 (Closed)
The idea of London Crosslink was to create a kind of north-east to south-west Thameslink clone, with the selling point being "avoiding central London"; plus Feltham was envisaged as a gateway to Heathrow. Anglia Railways persuaded the Strategic Rail Authority to support the service financially. In practice, there was only a train every couple of hours or so, public awareness was low, and they had to crawl round the North London Line while usually only stopping at West Hampstead, Highbury and Islington, and Stratford. I actually used the service a number of times, but not many others did and it ended after a couple of years.Starkey7 wrote:What a bizarre route!
