The inappropriate edit was made from a UK tiscali address and has been reverted.

Parallel to the above discussion I started a thread - but has now moved the content here. This is my point: (though it seems most people agree onthis forum though).
hwolge wrote:I was surprised and disappointed looking at the
Tube Challenge entry in Wikipedia finding that slandering and bickering is going on. I think we, as a community, need to show a united façade. When it comes to personal slander, I don't think it has a place at all in public/semi-public internet sites. When it comes to bickering, and more specifically I'm referring to the "holding of doors at Acton Town" passage, I think this forum is a much better place to discuss such issues. The content in Wikipedia should be as close to objective and unbiased as humanly possible. When it comes to door holding, I don't think we could ever establish who has used this technique and who hasn't. After all, Guinness has not made a ruling on this - so it's pretty irrelevant!
I haven't studied the Wikipedia contribution guide lines in detail, but I expect them to be quite negative to slandering/bickering - or?
So can we all agree to keep "our" Wikipedia entry as professional and objective as possible?

I'd view those comments (both made anonymously from tiscali accounts) more as graffiti than as serious contributions. I'm sure Hakan's view has overwhelming support on this forum.

Yeah. The last thing that we want non Tube challengers to read is about door holding. They'll more want to join if they see a positive, uplifting community behind it all.

There was another inappropriate comment on the same bit until just now. I was just changing it and jbom1 beat me to it!

It was a different IP from before, but it seems that we might need to keep an eye on that particular section for changes/additions.

Is there no way that the IP can be traced to anyone

It must be someone on the forum or else they are very well informed. We are about to get our biggest ever media coverage and publicity when Eggheads is shown in a few weeks and we don't need this shite flying around

If Moley or tubeguru were to add
this mod to the forum then they can search and see if a user on here has the same address.

Well, the goal is not to find the culprit, but rather discourage further abuse... Right?

That's the thing now Matt we are all going to be clearing ourselves if suspected and therefore as one of the current GWR Holders I would fall in that category as well.... Just to say I have never updated on Wiki my PC skils are naff anyway and have no idea who our internet providers are at work but we have utility warehouse at home.....
I didn't for one second think it was your handy work by the way.......

It should also be marked as irrelevant information for that section, since there's nothing in the rules about door holding at all. You might as well put a footnote in the entry for me and say that I had a wee in the bushes at Ickenham...

So.....not trying to sound stupid, but could someone explain that to me? Unless I'm missing something, I dont get how that needed to be taken out....

I'm probably just not thinking of something simple but could one of you explain to me?
