Some of you, particularly those I chatted with at the recent Zone 1 Challenge Cup day, knew that this was in the works, but I can now confirm it: I am moving to Finland. My flight is on the 31st of July.

What does this mean for you? Well...

• This means I won't be able to do a full network challenge this autumn as I had been planning to. My apologies to those who had shown an interest in joining me or competing against me.
• It is very unlikely that I will be able to attend next year's Zone 1 Challenge Cup, because I am going to be doing my national service between January and July 2009.
• As a way of saying goodbye to the tube and to London, I will (probably) be joining in with the Tube Olympics full network challenge. There are still a few details to be ironed out, but I certainly intend to take part and claim the record before I go!
• The person I am moving in with does not have an internet connection at home, so I'll be on the forum a lot less. I should still be able to check up on you all at least once a week though.

For those that care, I'll be living in Hyvinkää and doing my military service in Helsinki.

You'll still see plenty of me between now and the end of July, so there is no need to rush in those emotional goodbyes just yet

Not bad, actually, but I'll be taking evening classes to improve it before I join the army.

Having said that, Helsinki is apparently the place where most overseas conscripts do their service, and so they are used to dealing with non-Finnish speakers.

You wouldn't happen to be leaving on flight BA0794 departing Heathrow at 12:30, would you?

(I'm also going to Finland on July 31st, but on a rather more temporary basis than you are...)

So, I ended up being on the forums a fair bit more than I thought I would, because I bought myself a computer. I will probably be on a lot less from now on though, because I join the army tomorrow. I'll still pop by when I get the chance.
