Ha! For once there was only a gentle breeze to run into on the home leg. On the outward leg, with breeze behind and sun ahead it was actually too hot.

Also, this was on the Southsea alternate course. My eight best parkrun times are NOT on the Southsea main course (three Southsea alternates, five at various courses in London).

The hills are something else. But it's very picturesque. I'm hoping to go under 27 minutes first time out, but we'll see.

OK, so what happened today then?

Well, Andi is now very close to going under 20 minutes for the first time, taking 72 seconds off his PB. Surely he can't go much faster before he hits his peak, can he? Another new course for him, and for me - the absolutely mad Mount Edgcumbe Park hill run. I'm quite pleased with my time of 26:45, as the uphill climb from the start is fearsome, and takes you from 35 feet to 357 feet in just 3K. Once you've hit the peak though, you get the benefit of some serious downhill motoring, although the ground is rocky and muddy. Another short hill just before the finish and you're done. Bring your best legs, Nozza!

Both scrxisi and Nozza didn't run today, so the two best streaks come to and end, and it's Das who takes over at the top, with three runs in a row. He also gets a new finishing position PB. Tractakid was also out, volunteering at Milton Keynes where Ric Brackenbury made another semi-rare appearance. Both GU and I were at inaugural events today, with him nursing himself back to health at Tooting Common.

Another milestone reached is Iain notching up 200 weeks without a run. Are you coming back? You said you might soon.

Yes it's going to be a long road back for fitness and health and I am taking it steady at the moment.... I have to say Tooting is massive PB territory for the quicker runners on the forum as is 85% tarmac with the shortest of the triangle sides probably best described as a dirt path but is very compact and not really muddy or holding... It is totally flat not an incline anywhere so I recommend your go and try if the opportunity arises.... Great running from Andi today..... Was that your first inaugural today Neil? The buzz is amazing and we had the parkrun founder there today together with the local MP who made the mistake and was quickly corrected by all for calling it a "race".....

I was at Parkrun but in a volunteer role timekeeping. Back to running one next week.

One thing that made me curious is this points competition not that I would go for it same course each week but what do you win?

Some parkruns give a prize. tractakid might be able shed more light on it.

What I don't get is ur get 300 points for volunteering way more than participating I be at brockenhurst next week daze will do 39mins

Yes, although we didn't have the local MP. Not that I'd want to see him anyway, given he's a Tory.

Anyway, the run director is usually involved with Plymvalley, but has branched out to start running this one instead.
