Yes.

Merely stating on this forum that you're coming means nothing.

Email Geoff to officially register your interest folks.

But keep discussing it here of course :-)

Just a few questions to those who know......

1) What are we going to do about sponsorship?
2) Are we logging?
3) Is there a reward for the fastest time?

My responses to those questions would be:

1) You arrange your own - central sponsorship will be too difficult to arrange for everyone with the amount of time left before we do this. Watch this topic for more news on this.

2) Not essential I'd say - your choice.

3) No. This is not a competition.

And I have just written our route (assuming the only thing not working at the time is the Piccadilly between Hyde Park Corner and Arnos Grove) ...

We're sorted - what about the rest of you? :-)

Accommodation

Post by juice-rail »

:!: Nita hurleys B&B now full :!:

I contacted Nita Hurleys B&B in Amersham town, leafy Metroland.

Geoff and I decided that to ensure tube athletes are guaranteed places,
I should book the entire B&B (7 beds) under my name. (But I aint paying for everyone!)
I explained what was happening and she has knocked a fiver off each bed for us!

ALL BEDS TAKEN

people booked here should be getting confirmation emails

B&B location...
Nita Hurley's Bed and Breakfast
63 Hundred Acres Lane, Amersham, HP7 9BX
Phone: 01494 433095

Can I point out that it is very likely that Geoff and myself will, as tradition dictates, be in the same room (not the same bed I hasten to add).

We would probably take the twin in that case.

I'm sure he'll agree since he can't live without me ... :-)

[edit] All sorted :-)

re: "this is not a world record attempt..."

Can we not get GWR to recognise Biggest Number of Geeks on One Train?

Depends how you classify a "geek".

I don't think we'd be anywhere near the record, if it exists.

Railtours have many more geeks in one go than we'll ever manage :-)

That's so cool TLF like the idea!

I personaly know a presenter at 96.4 Eagle and im gonna get him to give us a mention some time next week, or maybe alow me on the show to mention it myself and get sponsors. That's my little plan

Once I get the press release Im also contacting my two local rags.

I cant believe its all working out so well and so quickly!

This is such a massive event that I'm desperately trying to find ways of escaping the narrowboat somewhere near Northampton, having a lift back to Dunstable on xxday evening and then obtaining (somehow) a lift to Amersham at 3am on the morning of the xxday.

Any offers?!
