Interpreting 1081 as October 1981...

The single It's My Party by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin first reached number one in the UK in October 1981.

Those were the days. :)

Walk 1082 in the online guide to Walking Britain is the Ennerdale Horseshoe in the Lake District. The route includes the major peaks circling the upper reaches of Ennerdale and you can expect the route to take fourteen hours or more.

During a full network challenge, for some strange reason, you decide to run from Upminster to Wanstead. Your route takes you through Ilford, along the A1083.

Even types of yeast have their own numbers. Yeast strain 1084 from Wyeast Laboratories in Oregon, USA is called Irish Ale, a "versatile yeast [that] ferments extremely well in dark worts [and] is a good choice for most high gravity beers".

Take any three-digit number that isn't a palindrome. Write it backwards. Take away the smaller from the larger. You usually end up with another three digit number. (If you don't, then put a 'zero' before the two digits to effectively make it three digits.)

Take this new number, and below it, write the number backwards. Then add the two together.

Your answer should be 1089.

Top of the Google search results for 1090 was Rotary District 1090, covering the Thames Valley and surrounding areas. I don't recall seeing any of their other districts on previous searches - wonder how they made themselves so prominent?
