Incidentally, speaking of Hull and telephone codes, I seem to remember that Hull was unique, as it had its own telephone system (Kingston Communications) whilst the rest of the country was under the nationalised British Telecom. (You're welcome to correct me if I've got these facts wrong...)
You are absolutely correct! It's called
KCOM now, but Hull has had an independent telephone network since the early days.
484 is a palindromic perfect square (= 22 squared). The only other three-digit ones are 121 and 676.

The 484 Bus runs this route: Dunoon - Strachur - St. Catherines - Lochgoilhead - Carrick Castle. I was planning to pop to Dunoon myself (via the ferry) during the Scottish trip I start tomorrow, but I don't think I'll make it this visit.

As that post is a duplicate I think I'm meant to ignore it, and since I posted 484 I can't post 485. Who's next?

486 are not the last three digits of any UK STD code! It's an unallocated mark!

Bear with me on this one:
1/3 = 0.33333333333... The repeating part is 3, and 3 divides 3. When does this next happen?
1/487 = 0.00205338809034... The repeating part is too long to write out, but 487 divides into it.
The only other number for which this property is known is 56598313.
