I thought that as well, but given how much backlog there is, and that there is a finite amount of available flight paths and planes themselves, they wouldn't be able to put on that many extra flights really I don't think. Admittedly, I'm not an aerophile so don't really know these things properly!

From the point of Air New Zealand we will have cleared our backlog of passengers and cargo by tomorrow 23rd April. We put on three extra flights to get things moving quickly. :)

After checking the volcanoash graphics on London VAA, I didn't quite like the outlook for Denmark/Copenhagen for Saturday, so I advanced the first leg of my flight to Miami, so now I'm in Master Robert Hotel in Osterley for the next 36 hours, without specific plans. Are there any Tube Challengers out there without any specific plans for Friday night, that'd like to come together for a pint or two?

Unfortunately, I don't have an internet connection in my room, only in the reception where I'm now, so I may not see any communication right away...

Geoff

I suggest you read the folowing topic through before posting and throwing your toys out of the pram, jesus all I did was book a function room which can easily be cancelled

Booking the function room is only a small part of the day, there is plenty more organising to be done to ensure the day runs smoothly than just booking the function room. If Geoff has another venue in mind then it's easy enough to cancel the Horse & Groom and go elsewhere, it's not a big deal is it?

<Mod hat firmly on>

I'm affriad that some people on here are all to quick to jump in and take over. Going Underground - did you ever get a response to your post? It appears not. Did you post that you had actually booked the room - it appears not. Out of courtesy if nothing else you could have emailed Geoff direct, sent a Private Message.

If Geoff had wanted help, he would have asked for it I'm sure. May I remind everyone that it was Geoff who basically devised and organised the first Zone 1 challenge some 6 years ago.

I can understand Geoff being p***ed off. This forum is now more about egos and less about tube challenging than ever.

Simple solution, Kevin rings up the H&G to cancel the booking he made and Geoff carries on organising the event as he would like. This all seems a bit pathetic and childish to me.

As with most things - the solution is simple.

I believe it is the principle of the matter that is the issue.

Housekeeping:

Geoff has asked for his account to be deleted and his posts retained. I have done both.

Neil, you will need to delete (or amend) Geoffs first post in this thread in which he asks entrants to email him. If he is no longer wanting to organise this years event we need to be sensible and find a new organiser. We also need to get a new email address for entrants to register. I guess anyone interested in organinsing should make it known here. Any takers?

I've amended the first post in this thread with a note. Here's that note to save you going back to page one:

As of the 15th of May 2010 Geoff is no longer a member of this forum. He is also no longer organising this year's Zone 1 challenge. I will ask Geoff if he can supply me a list of those who have already entered, and I can then pass that on to whoever takes up the mantle as organiser. If he has not kept a list of people then I'm afraid you'll either have to do it again or just turn up. The new organiser will have to decide on that.

Hopefully Geoff will be able to email me a list of people we have so far. I'll then pass it on.

I'd also like to point out that whilst I will not be taking part on the 4th of June (I start work at 03.45 or something equally stupid), I will be finished work at 10.28 and will be able to attend the opening ceremony and draw the starting station as originally planned, if no one has any objections to that.

I can also be in the pub to receive people as they start returning from their runs, as I have done on previous occasions.
