We've passed several of these in the early 2000s, but if you want to put the next one in this thread you'll have to wait until we reach four thousand.
Not necessarily... I can do it like this:

Two and a half thousand.

It's supposed to be a parody of the TED Talks, but it's not very good. If you have access to digital radio, you can hear the "TED Radio Hour" every Sunday at 11am on Radio 4 Extra.

Reuters, indeed! Reminds me of the joke about the editor of a small West Country newspaper:

Sniffy London journalist: Do you get any of your stories from Reuters?
West Country editor: Of course. All of them. They wroite the news stories...

I'm a bit late with this, but how do we know the bank holiday legislation won't have changed by then? There have been several changes to the bank holidays in England and Wales during my lifetime (introduction of New Year's Day and May Day, replacement of Whitsun by the Spring Bank Holiday, moving August Bank Holiday from the first to the last Monday). Also we sometimes get one-off bank holidays for royal weddings and that sort of thing. (If we've still got a Royal Family in 2105, of course...)

What's truly amazing is that I was only the second person to view that YouTube video...
Fewer people have viewed the video than were in the car, and even that wasn't very many.

7 views now! This forum has given the video the most publicity it's ever had. I hope the creator's grateful :)

I missed the actual moment, but I'm delighted to say that the QI Forum's "New Number Fact Game" has finally passed 2000. Let's give them a big hand!

EDIT: Cancel that. "PDR" made the posts for both 1999 and 2000, so it's invalid (by our rules anyway). I think I may call them to order :)

I've just had a little contretemps with them, so as a peace offering I've made the post for 2013. I hope you don't mind me helping out the "opposition"!

Not only is it a Mersenne prime, it's only of only four known double Mersenne primes, and was the largest known prime until 1855. (It has its own Wikipedia page!)
