And quite an achievement given that a mere 46 days ago we were 142 behind! Great work everyone. Now all we've got to do is maintain our lead for another 55 posts (as I write this).

EDIT: Make that 38. We had quite a session last night :)

Indeed - something that won't happen again until 6009. Wonder if Counting will still be going by then?

The post-number or the year?

This is the time of the week when I normally do the progress report, but it almost seems redundant...

Since this time last week, QI have made a modest advance of 15 to 1945. We, on the other hand, have progressed by an incredible 83 to 1973, and are now 28 ahead! We passed them at 1942.

I'm not going to make any predictions, except to say that the chances of QI getting to 2000 first are about as much as those of Australia winning the Ashes :)

I travelled the line from Charing Cross on the day it opened! Strange to think it's a "ghost station" now.

What a brilliant game! Got to a 256 tile on my first attempt, which I'm quite pleased with. I'll keep trying.

EDIT: Got to a 512 on (I think) my fourth attempt - scored 5348. I think this is going to keep me preoccupied for quite a while :)

Another person who is addicted to the game. I'm still trying to get about the 1024 tile, it just gets very hard at that point

Just had my best score yet - 7244! I had a 512, 256 and 128 all in the corner together - so near and yet so far...

What's your best score?

I've completed. There's a strategy to it. No idea what my score was though...

Congratulations! I thought I had it just now, with a 1024, a 512, a 256 and a 128 all waiting to go... so irritating! (Score 16460, which I'm unlikely to beat any time soon.)

You know, I think it was worth counting through numbers 1 to 2047 just so that leamfarrar could introduce us to this game :)

DONE IT! (Scored 20436, for what that's worth.)

Now back to my normal routine :)

EDIT: Fat chance of that. I discovered you can continue playing after you get to 2048 - ended up with a 512, 256 and two 128s in addition to the 2048 tile (total score 28064). Is there a 4096 tile?

EDIT[2]: Wikipedia says it goes right up to 131,072 ( = 2^17). I think I've got my work cut out for a while...

Although we are no longer racing QI, I thought it worth pointing out that we are now 100 ahead. Clearly a while to go before they hit the big one...
