But surely the "outside" becomes the "inside"? After all, how can a one-sided shape have an inside or outside?

I guess it just becomes a 'side' (like the Möbius strip - except that definitely won't hold liquid)

Hmmm - maybe it does. Likewise, I guess a Klein bottle made of sponge could either hold the liquid better than the glass version, or worse!

This is one of the more intellectual threads on the forum of late.

Actually though, take a large, hollow ball and imagine that you squish it in a bit, to make a little dent. Fill the dent with a little puddle of water, and again, it's holding water which is only touching its outward side. So that quality is not peculiar to Klein bottles.
