Starting with the A1, there are 772 consecutive A-road numbers that have at some time been allocated in Great Britain. [Incidentally, I think I've walked most of the A772 as well - it's about three miles long and passes the Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World at Lasswade, south of Edinburgh.]
