I have noticed that if you load a page of this thread (or any thread), wait for a while, then go to post, you will not get the notification about new posts, if any have been made. It seems that you only get the notification if any new posts are made between the time you click "post reply" and the time you click "submit", which is usually a pretty short window in this thread. That could be your problem, GU.
