Re: Possible Route which is now a possible Attempt
I think bits of line where this rule occurs are:
- Queen's Park to Harrow and Wealdstone (Bakerloo and Overground)
- Amersham to Rickmansworth (Metropolitan and Chilton)
- Richmond to Gunnersbury (District and Overground)

Chiltern but otherwise correct and that train must serve the same stops as the Met, you can't get away with getting a fast service!!

Re: Possible Route which is now a possible Attempt
Actually London Underground trains can and do serve all 3 platforms at Amersham, all 4 platforms at Queens Park, all 6 platforms at Harrow-on-the-Hill, and platform 4 at Richmond (but not platform 3 as it has no fourth rail).
I'm sure Guinness wouldn't care less which exact platform you used anyway - I don't think there is any requirement to put the platform number in your logbook?

Platform numbers aren't required, but train numbers are, and Guinness could see from that part of your logbook if you arrived on an Overground train and departed by bus (for example - nobody does that any more, do they?). That said, I am also fairly sure they wouldn't pull you up on it.

Er you can get an overground in and out of Richmond if the case did come up as long as the 3 stations involved were covered its highly unlikely but possible.Root wrote:Platform numbers aren't required, but train numbers are, and Guinness could see from that part of your logbook if you arrived on an Overground train and departed by bus (for example - nobody does that any more, do they?). Re: Possible Route which is now a possible Attempt
Platform 2 isn't used. I should know. I live in Harrow. Platform 2 is only used on days when there's no service between Harrow and Aldgate, e.g. today - Services to Amersham are from Platform 2, Watford from 4, and Uxbridge from 6.greatkingrat wrote: all 6 platforms at Harrow-on-the-Hill,
So:
Platform 1: Both Met Line and Chiltern services.
Platform 2: Chiltern only
Platform 3: Met Only
Platform 4: Met Only
Platform 5: Met Only
Platform 6: Met Only
So, for example, if there was a train in the platform at Brixton, say, how do you get the train number from there?Root wrote:Platform numbers aren't required, but train numbers are, and Guinness could see from that part of your logbook if you arrived on an Overground train and departed by bus (for example - nobody does that any more, do they?). Its virutally impossible to get a train number at brixton you cant see the front or behind the train its the only one we missed yesterday for example but i have missed several train numbers before.hopeful traveller wrote:Platform 2 isn't used. I can confirm that. On my four challenge attempts I have arrived at or departed from Amersham on a Met Line train using all three platforms on different occasions.greatkingrat wrote:Actually London Underground trains can and do serve all 3 platforms at Amersham

Re: Possible Route which is now a possible Attempt
The new 09 stock on the Victoria Line does not only show its running number on the front, it is also shown in a sequence of the destination screens on the outside of each coach. As I have seen several times.
The destination screens on the outside of each coach scroll as follows: 242... Destination... Brixton... Next station... Blackhorse Road. The number part at the beginning is the trains' running number.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!
Tangy.

Re: Possible Route which is now a possible Attempt
My thoughts on the "same rails" rule
I think Richmond is allowed because both London Overground and District use the same rails to the NEXT station, Kew Gardens.
Rather than Kensington (Olympia) where the London Overground and District rails go to DIFFERENT stations and is not allowed.
Whatever platform you leave or arrive from Amersham, Queens Park, Richmond etc you would not GAIN anything!

But what if you took the Overground from Kilburn High Road to Queens Park, and then ran from there to Epping? Would you have "done" Queens Park?
