I've been keeping my own record of the scores, and it looks all right to me, but can I clarify something? Column C gives the position as of midnight last night; column G appears to give the position as of the time you made the post (10:53 Sunday). Are they meant to be different?

No.

Ah, that's better. Thanks.

You really don't need to keep your own scores, unless the idea is to constantly check that I can add up properly and correct me every week.

Given all the errors there have been so far, I think I'll carry on keeping my own record if you don't mind.

If it really means that much to you, then go ahead.

It's actually useful to be able to keep track of the scores so that I can plan my own strategy. For example, I note that DavidC has just pulled equal with me in first place on 6600 points. I'm playing this to win you know.

Incidentally, which is considered more important - the overall totals or the weekly totals? I'm currently in third place on the latter.

This game never ends. One never "wins" it ...

Because of the confusion with my dodgy clock, and your score not being penalised for the "double claiming" thing, I started from the beginning again, so that's why both scores are level again. It's as if everything so far has been on big "week".

I would imagine that overall score is more important.

Fair point. I'm making every effort to stay in first place though.

I don't understand. At the end of week 1, I was ahead by 525 points (7 bells). At the beginning of week 2, I claimed 300 points (4 bells) and DavidC has just claimed 825 points (11 bells). I'm assuming that my 525-point lead is being carried over from the first week. That's why we're equal on the overall totals even though I'm in third place on the weekly totals.

Good, that's what I'm aiming for.

Yes.

Damn! Didn't refresh the page, so didn't know tubeguru had posted. Clever tactics there!

Hoist by your own petard, tubeguru! My post of "14 bells" was invalid (because I didn't spot your post of 13 bells in time). Therefore, by the very ruling that you recently made in this thread, your most recent post is also invalid because the previous valid post was your own. Am I not right?

Having checked the rules, I have now put in what I believe to be a VALID claim for 12 bells, on the following basis:

My claim of 14 bells at 02/08/15 07:18 was invalid (since only 8 minutes had passed since the last valid claim)
Tubeguru's claim of 11 bells at 02/08/15 18:28 was also invalid (since he was the last posted to make a valid claim)

Therefore the last valid claim before my most recent one (02/08/15 19:28) was tubeguru's claim at 02/08/15 07:10 - over 12 hours previously.

Right, can we get this whole thing sorted out now please? Here's tubeguru's post from 25 Jun 2011:
If you see an invalid claim, look back to the last valid one, and go from there.

NOTE - Mullardo went back to the last valid claim before Starkey's - his own. You are allowed to do that in the game - I mean technically you are playing two moves in a row by ignoring the invalid one, but the rules say you go back to the last valid move, EVEN IF IT WAS YOUR OWN.
On that principle, my claim of 74 bells at 21/07/2015 17:58 was actually valid. On the other hand, tubeguru's claim of 11 bells at 02/08/2015 18:28 was also valid, even though I regarded it as invalid. My own claim of 12 bells at 02/08/2015 19:28 would then have been invalid, even though I regarded it as valid.

Someone really needs to sort the rules out. There's no way I can continue to take part if the rules keep changing like this.
