Could someone please explain the attraction of Boris Johnson to me (i.e. a non-Londoner)? He seems to be widely regarded as an eccentric buffoon, with some positively bizarre policy decisions (Borismaster, anyone?) and yet he got re-elected. Has he got some great virtue I'm missing, or is it just the alternative was even worse?

But they didn't re-elect Arnie, did they? They only fell for that trick once. London's done it twice. And I'm sure no-one expected Boris to actually carry out his policies when he was first elected.

Because a lot of people I spoke to on the campaign trail were saying "Which one's the least hopeless?" Ken Livingstone was having another go and he'd already cocked his 8 years up.

Kyle Reese: The Borisator's an infiltration unit, part man, part honey monster. Underneath, it's a hyper-alloy combat chassis - micro processor-controlled, fully armored. Very tough. But outside, it's living human tissue - flesh, skin, hair (hmmm that could do with some work), blood, grown for the cyborgs...The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy. But these are new, they look human. Sweat, bad breath, play wiff-waff, increase bus travel costs by 50%, everything. Very hard to spot.

I wouldn't have been happy voting for either Johnson or Livingstone. I don't understand why Labour picked Ken to run for them again. Just look at how well they did in local elections around the country - if they had had someone new running in London, they could have won there too, in my opinion.

And this is what annoys me about the electioneering - instead of making a case for why they should be voted in because of their policies etc, all electioneering now seems to be based around "you don't want to vote for the other candidate because he said X, so vote for me instead".

That sums up all politics. A quick look at PMQs shows you all you need to know about how politics works.

Could you just fill this in for me? It will probably take a minute and I need it for my teaching of Year 7 mathematics pupils.
