If we had this one before, I must have forgotten about it. I think it's a little "unfair" to allow someone to make two consecutive claims if an invalid claim comes between the two. I didn't intend for this to be a thing when I first wrote the rules, otherwise I would have specifically mentioned it at the time. As the scores have been reset, it seems an excellent opportunity to clear this little loophole up.

OK, here one for you. I've had my forum user settings set to show the time as GMT. Does this mean that my posts will show a GMT timestamp to other users, or will they see the "real" BST time? I was wondering if this might account for some of my previous claims being out by an hour!

I get the real BST time.

Quite possibly. Could it account for moley's error as well?

And you've just gone and posted "18 bells" when you were only entitled to 17?

Honestly, this game is going to the dogs.

In order to avoid embarrassment to tubeguru (and moley), I propose that all the scores are reset to zero. Again.

Didn't realize this game could be so entertaining :)

I see why. I posted that before I changed my clock settings. That's why I keep missing by an hour. It should now be OK. I'll take the hit for the incorrect claims. No scores will be reset now I know WHY I keep getting it wrong!

To anyone wishing to play this game, please make sure the forum is displaying the time in BST.

Here's how to check:

>> User Control Panel
>> Board Preferences
>> Summer Time/DST is in effect

And save the changes. Then check that the time on the home page of the forum shows correctly. This caused trouble before, I believe.

Aha ! I'm almost feeling a bit guilty now. Almost.

My "5 bells" a few moments ago is really to confirm that everyone agrees with where we are : I posted it soon after 2200 BST based on that being just over five hours after GuyBarry's post and based on tubeguru's decision not to reset scores during his explanation of the GMT/BST issue. Please feel free to invalidate my "5 bells" but hopefully it gives us a clean agreed agreed position shortly after 2200 BST.

Great to see 23 bells, tubeguru. I hope your inclusion of additional text in the claim message ("I THINK I GOT ONE RIGHT!!!") doesn't invalidate it !

According to this post, it should count as a spoiler. However, it's not included in the rules as far as I can see, and I'm quite happy for tubeguru to have the points.

Comments made after claims have never invalidated them before. And that's very magnanimous of you, GuyBarry ...

So long as the claim is the first thing at the top of the post, comments may be added afterwards. I don't think the rules need changing for that, but if someone else mentions it in future, or asks about it I may consider it for clarification purposes.

OK, I've recalculated all the scores, and the table is now updated to show the position as of midnight last night.

We should now be OK to carry on normally, now I've sorted out my time issues.
