And, as greatkingrat has previously pointed out, they've got a lot further on Digital Spy:

A bit boring though, isn't it? I prefer our version, though I should warn you that the
QI Forum (in which I also take part) has got to 1000 and is threatening to overtake us...

This was the version of the game that tractakid originally started. I seem to remember we got as far as, er, two...

You can tell the QI Forum that a bunch of mis-matched tube challengers are ahead of them.

They started in 2009, so they ought to be miles ahead by now, but progress was very sluggish in the early days. They were about 300 behind when I joined but they've narrowed the gap to about 100 now.
I did think about having a race but I can hardly play for both teams...

No one there seems to be interested. Perhaps QI-ers are less competitive than Tube Challengers.

I'm so pleased you came up with that! That was one of the entries from the
original SABRE site, created by Brad Jackson in 1999, which predates the current site by several years. When Brad became too ill to maintain it the rest of us decided to "preserve it in aspic", as a little bit of history. Were it not for Brad SABRE might never had been created - so we've a lot to be grateful for.

I see there's a forum playing a version of this game using images - they're up to 2579!

It has been tried ... sort of:

There are forum rules about the size of images in posts, though (as I found to my cost).

I have always been against forums full of pictures, especially as some can be quite large. It's for that very reason that picture signatures are banned.

Even more fun when you link them into recent posts.

Which means it's the product of two consecutive integers, I think - presumably 34 x 35.
