This is becoming too complicated to follow, if I'm completely honest.

Yes, and in doing that, I wanted to illustrate your inconsistency in supporting SV, a system which has multiple rounds of voting but does not allow everyone to vote again. Like AV.

Simply put: why do you support SV but not AV?

In France's version of SV, everyone votes again - which is my point. If AV meant everyone had to vote again (Conservative leadership elections) then it would be OK.

We weren't talking about the French elections, though - haven't I said that before? - we were talking about the London mayoral elections.

But you know what, forget it. It's not worth this long a conversation.

And this is why no one trusts or respects politicians - they can't give straight answers to easy questions, because they don't want to be seen to be committing themselves to one opinion. But everyone knows that when a person keeps evading a question to which the answer is obviously easy, the truthful answer they should give is the opposite, otherwise they'd just give the easy answer.

For example, it's fairly obvious by the way that James Murdoch has been answering questions at the Leveson Inquiry, and when questioned earlier by MPs, that he is lying or
misleading the questioners about what he knew of phone hacking. He can't say outright, "absolutely nothing happened" because we all know that's crap, but he can't say "yes, I knew all about phone hacking", because then he's in the shit. So he has to take the annoying middle road, the one that politicians take when they either refuse to tell the truth, or refuse to commit to an opinion for fear that political opponents will score points off of it. He has to refuse to answer the question.

I think most of that makes sense, which is why I will never be a politician.

We made unexpected gains last year so this was to be expected. I wouldn't really call it a drubbing and I just think it's mid-term blues.
