That's correct. Moley was only entitled to 64 bells, so David's claim of 70 is correct.

Right, so what's going on now then?

As far as I can work out, tubeguru's claim of "17 bells" at 17 Jul 2015, 12:03 was invalid, because only 16 full hours had passed since DavidC's post. Which means that Going Underground was entitled to claim 16 bells at 17 Jul 2015, 12:23, but he only chose to claim 5 weed.

I think I'll stick to Counting and making up silly stories.

That's how I calculate it too.

So by my calculation these are the current scores:

DavidC: 5250
GuyBarry: 150
Going Underground: 5
tubeguru: -1275
moley: -4875

I seem to be in second place despite having claimed hardly anything! Strange game :?

The last valid claim was GU's "5 weed", so we're going from there. In other news, some of us need to learn how to count time.

OK, with a new game come new scores!

I've revived the old Google Docs scoring sheet that last made an appearance in 2012. I've cleared it out and put the current scores into it. Each "week" will end at midnight on Saturday night, so I'll be updating it on a Sunday. Until then, the scores are as they stand up to my claim of 72 bells today.

I'm sorry to keep finding fault like this, but I really don't see how you can claim 72 bells for the period 18 Jul 2015, 15:56 to 21 Jul 2015, 15:37 (71 hours 41 minutes by my calculation).

On the basis that tubeguru's claim of 72 bells was invalid, I've put in a claim of my own for 74 bells. This is based on the time of what I believe to be the last valid claim (my own claim of 27 bells). I'm not sure if you're allowed to time claims from your own posts, but I can't see anything in the rules that disallows this (provided you don't make two consecutive claims).

Bugger. However, the rules do state you may not claim twice in a row, and as your claim before was the last valid, you have claimed twice in a row. Therefore, I suggest you lose 5550 points.

I know how anal you are about the application of rules, so you really should have seen that one coming. :) I'll update the rules to reflect this loophole.

Well I don't think the rules as originally stated make that clear. In all the years that Tumbleweed has been going, has this situation really never arisen before?

I'm quite happy to accept that rule from now on, but I think it's unfair to apply it retrospectively. I think the fairest thing under the circumstances would be to say that my claim neither gains nor loses any points.

But you're in charge...

Nope, so you're the first person to break it! I've amended the rules in a couple of places to stop people double-claiming in that way. I hadn't even considered it before now.

OK, that's fair. Your score remains as it currently is in the score table.

Thanks. I accept that.

We've had this discussion before. We concluded that you could not make two consecutive claims however you could, by application of the rules, have two consecutive successful claims if someone else had posted an invalid claim between.

So I'm entitled to the points after all? I'm not bothered either way - I'd just like a clear statement of the rules.
