And now the counting game has hit its longest gap ever - 5 days, 2 hours and 1 minute (as I write this). Come on folks - let's not give up after getting this far...

I know I can't, but surely I can exercise gentle persuasion! I bet you can find something for 856...

Amazingly, I've just discovered what the original post said: 572 people attended Arbroath v Stenhousemuir on 29 October 2011. Bet that was worth waiting for :)

There was something very satisfying about looking at the Counting thread for the first time in weeks, and discover that 888 was waiting for me... :)

I'm not touching the counting thread until 900, at which point I will have many interesting contributions.

Any predictions for when we'll hit the thousand? It's taking much longer than I thought - my last prediction was the 7th of November. I think we should just about make it by the end of the year at the current rate.

Let's all stop at 999 in protest towards the decimal system.

I know that "C" represents 12 (decimal) in hexadecimal, but does the same convention extend to other number bases as well? Even if you used the entire alphabet you'd run out of letters at 35 (decimal).

You can get up to base 62 if you use both capital and lower case letters.

Which three?

EDIT: I think I've got it - 913 in base 10, 391 in base 16 and 193 in base 26. Am I right?
