Just returned from a return cruise to Stockholm, which unfortunately only allowed a six-hour excursion to the city. Make that five, as my grandma's legs "couldn't cope with all the walking". I was tempted to ring HÃ¥kan and ask him for any recommended things to see or do, but my phone died.
Peter, this is also why I didn't reply to your message. Sorry!

You would have been very welcome to call me, however it probably would have done you little good. Living in the very south of Sweden, I have very little experience of Stockholm...
I prefer London for a city break (for both obvious and less obvious reasons) - and it's actually cheaper to get there (at least if you plan it well in advance).

I knew you lived well away from Stockholm (nearer Malmo, if I remember rightly), but I was sure you would have been there at least once, if only to try out the "T" Metro!

I'm off to the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales later this month (not the Bank Holiday weekend - that's just stupid).

Just got back from North York Moors, very nice part of the country...
NYMR is well worth a visit and good value at £30.00 for all day family ticket....running 18 miles from Pickering to Grosmont....
We also got the Esk Valley DMU from Whitby to Middlesboro, a nice day out and also very scenic but no good for challenge's

I was tempted to do the Swanage Railway challenge, and throw in Wareham station too for completeness. But a four-mile run down the A351 didn't sound particularly appealing.
Was it cold up there?

A real mixed bag of weather trust me too pick the worst week of the summer, we had 4 seasons in one week really
Wednesday was bloody cold, wet and windy. we ended up Middlesboro is not the most scenic of towns in the sunshine
How was Swanage then, much the same I imagine...

Hurrah! I've just been there for the third year in a row - it is a truly wonderful coastline.
While you're there, go to Oakwood theme park and try the new ride, Speed, a Euro-Fighter roller coaster with a 97 degree drop, loop and roll. It's brilliant!

Err, OK.

Well Tubeguru doesn't seem sufficiently impressed by that, but I hope that this will be intense enough: why not do the Oakwood challenge? "Do" all the rides and attractions in the shortest possible time. Obviously you'd want to go in the middle of January, so as to avoid crowds of children and so on. I reckon that it'd take a bit of planning!

ALL of them? Including the truck ride and the kiddie Clown Coaster?
And what about Vertigo, which you have to pay extra for?
Flawed challenge!

Yes, all of them. Even the children's rides. And visit all the tea shops.
Flawed? You have to pay extra to visit Chesham and Amersham, and the Tube Challenge is certainly not flawed!
