I've heard this one in many forms, with differing quantities of both minutes and cigarettes, and I won't believe it as it seems an irrelevant comparison given the COMPLETELY different constituents of each type of smoke/dust. One of them, you're breathing in smoke from smouldering tobacco, and the other, you're breathing in the dust (not smoke) of a railway system.
Tube dust, as claimed in a report commissioned by LU (make of that what you will ... ) , is supposed to be safe, and is comprised mainly of silica and iron from worn components such as train brakes. Factor in the human dead skin dust (like household dust) and the resulting mixture wouldn't be anything like a cigarette!
