I know that about Charing Cross. Saturday was the first time since first using the station in 2007 that I could actually look down (well round) the corner so I couldnt help having a peek. I did watch a video on youtube that shows going through the doors on the Northern side, down and right through to the Bakerloo side.

Ah cool. I also would be interested to know where those corridors at Piccadilly Circus lead to, as well as Green Park.

And yeah I knew about Alperton, I really want to go to Greenford though (wooden escalator).

Shame about the door at Holborn being a solid one, I knew people used to be able to look through the metal gates onto the old platform.

I'll add Oval to my list. God I sound sad... :P

I saw a YouTube video of a young lad being shown round the disused Jubilee platforms at Charing Cross. Is this hard to replicate; did the boy just happen to meet a nice employee?

Possibly just a nice employee. As far as I know, LUL are quite strict about access to closed parts, due to health and safety. It was this reason why the tours to Down Street/Brompton Road stations were stopped. Although the Jubilee Line platforms are relatively safe, they are still working platforms as trains that terminate at Green Park travel here and then reverse, so there's the issue with traction current and all that.

Just had a thought...

Why did Jubilee services to Charing Cross stop with the opening of the new extension?
Why not run a branch line?

Probably because Charing Cross is served by more than enough lines as it is (was).

Probably as the points are so close to Green Park there would have been a hold-up there.

It must have been an operational reason - the points thing sounds about right.

There simply isn't enough capacity to run a Charing Cross service. Every train that terminates at Charing Cross is one less train that can run through the busiest section of the line at London Bridge and Canary Wharf. Anyone going to Charing Cross specifically has a cross-platform interchange to the Bakerloo at Baker Street instead

How did you know that? I just thought it ended at a brick wall.
