Perhaps it may not be stations that exist anymore but did perhaps.

It's actually quite simple and I'm surprised no one's worked it out yet.

Here's a silly idea ...
RICHMOND (Virginia)
KEW GARDENS (New York)
OLYMPIA (Washington)
UXBRIDGE (Massachusetts)
CHESHAM (New Hampshire)
can we get a tube station as a town name in 48 different states?

WIMBLEDON (North Dakota)
VICTORIA (Alabama)
ST PAUL (Alaska- best you can do with hardly any places anyway)
SAINT JOHNS (Arizona)
CAMDEN (Arkansas)
WESTMINISTER (Colorado)
RICHMOND (California)
FINCHLEY (Virginia)
STRATFORD (Connecticut)
KENTON (Delaware)

I'm guessing there's some sort of metro system in every state and Geoff will be doing them all...
By the way I'll be happy to help too.

I'd be suprised if there was any form of metro system in places like Wyoming or North Dakota.

Hello Geoff, we think we would be very happy to participate in your Non LU challenge, but in answer to your question "does that make sense", we'd also have to add a resounding no, which fortunaly others seem to think.
However, would I be right in saying that this challenge would take 48 days to complete, for both us and you? I only say this as 48 days is nearly 6 weeks, with it being 1 day short of 7! If so this looks impractical to a non Londoner, yet to visit the 48 in 1 day would be fine. I predict that with the way you've worded your message that this seems unlikely.
The fact that Tubeguru also thinks its blindingly obvious is infuriating both of us and I suspect many others. Everyone else, that's our best bet for this "simple" idea.

48 stations who share their name (or parts of it) with Baseball teams.

Ah yes James! We don't think this will be what Geoff is after but stick in the NBA, NFL and NHL along with the MLB and we reckon you must be able to do a few.
We wrote that and thought we would the ball rolling with the NBA list.

We are struggling. Best yet is San Antonio Spurs going with, well, erm, White Hart Lane NR and Los Angeles Clippers going with Cutty Sark DLR.
Off to watch the Apprentice now, but we like this possible challenge already.
The only rule in this challenge is that the link must be with the team/station name not individuals eg. Loul Deng of Chicago Bulls and Brixton, where he is from.

Boston (Red Sox) Manor
Tampa Bay Ray-ner's Lane
Cincinnati Reds-bridge
Chicago White Sox Lane
Cleveland West Indians Quay
Kansas City Royal Albert/Oak/Victoria
Los Angeles Angels (duh)
Burnt Oakland Athletics
New York Metsropolitan line
Man, I need a life.

Been thinking of all the NBA teams during the Apprentice and I've added a few more. I'll conclusively finish the other 3 sports tomorrow at school.
Minnesota Timberwolves - numerous wood/tree related places but are Shepherd's Bush or Wood Lane best.
Oklahoma City Raiders - City Thameslink
Sacramento Kings - Kingsbury
Not to hot on NFL off the top of my head but Green Bay Packers go with Parsons Green as its on the District line!
To be continued!
