I just seem to be lucky with when I come on that there are points up for grabs! At least I don't set Tumbleweed alarms ;)

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about!

I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to write a script that monitors the game thread and this board to automatically claim points. I say monitor the board as well as you would need to know when people are logged onto this forum and could potentially claim so the script could therefore claim the maximum amount available...

(given my scripting knowledge is quite limited, and as TG has said in another thread 'it's just a silly game' I probably won't bother...)

It helps that I watch sport in the early mornings and I have to get to school :-P

All my early morning claims are made whilst sat on my train at Old Oak Common, waiting for the shunter to give me my brake test.

Neither did anyone else, until you wrote that!

So we made twenty weeks of this shit, and still they claim for the points.

I'll discuss the stuff that you did wrong first.

13669 weed

I wondered why GKR claimed this strange number of points, but when I was updating the scores table I saw his previous score was 13670, so he's now gone right back to one point. I suspect he wanted to do this for some strange reason.

a bell

a bell

Now you might think I'm being picky, but the rules state that the numerical part of a claim must be an integer, expressed in either numerical or word format. Therefore, "one", "two", "three" etc. are correct. "A" is not an integer; it is an indefinite article. Therefore, both of these claims by jamesthegill have been deemed spoilers: no points lost, no points gained. "A", "some", "a few" are all invalid ways of claiming weeds and bells and will be treated as spoilers, as I can't turn them into an actual number to deduct any points.

Zwanzig weed

I think uefacup81 might have known this one wasn't going to fly. Twenty points deducted.

40 weeds

by Going Underground » 06 Nov 2011 03:49 pm

1 bell

Unlike jamesthegill's "A bell", this one is not invalid because Rich Tea G claimed for "weeds". Instead, it's naughty because he made two claims in a row, and therefore wins 10 points and then loses 40, for a net score of minus 30. As usual, Going Underground has his head screwed on and realises this, claiming correctly for a bell. He has also been the ONLY player in recent weeks to spot when the person before him has made a mess of it. So many of you are not looking at the posts before to check that they are valid. So many points are being lost in this way. Maybe you don't care.

I have updated the Rules thread to allow for "weeds" as a way of claiming, as it would be extremely anal of me to disallow it.

So, to the scores themselves:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... DhIejNwVWc

This week's winner is Going Underground, with 2025 points, narrowly beating moley into a surprise second place. Moley gains two places, one by overtaking me and the other from greatkingrat's "suicide claim" of 13669 points, which drops him 18 places. GKR even loses a place to another surprise entry in jonny, who hasn't been on the forum for ages. Hopeful traveller is the highest climber by moving up four places.

No change in the top four, although uefacup81 edges nearer to Sam at the top.

Total NET points claimed this week: -3464 if you include GKR's massive negative points haul, or 10205 without it.

I would point out that "a bell" singular could only mean one bell, but to be honest I only did it to test Neil and see whether it would count or not.

I've not been doing too well at this recently... I was doing better before the clock change because I had to actually look at an analogue clock in order to work out how many points I could claim!

Does this mean, though, that I didn't get points / lost points for claiming something like '40 of dem little weedy things'?

"40 of dem little weedy thingies" is an invalid claim and would be treated as a spoiler, as all "typos" are.

OK, here are the scores from week 21:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... DhIejNwVWc

There were a couple of things I noticed from this week, but I'm too lazy to mention them. If you object you your score, or anything you thought I may have mentioned, then just say so and I'll go and have a look.

Sam and uefacup81 had rather poor weeks, allowing Going Underground to catch up. Moley has also started playing the game more now, and he had the highest score up to Sunday, when he claimed nothing and lost top spot to GU. Root scrapes third place from mullardo, who only scored big because of his seven bells on Saturday morning.

Total points scored this week: 10869, which I think might be the highest yet.

Did you see my assertion that moley cheated? I wish I had taken a screenshot, because he deleted a bell claim as soon as he realised it was a minute too early.

You might say that I shouldn't take it seriously enough to care if someone is cheating, but I would retort that nobody should take it seriously enough to feel the need to cheat, just because they are an administrator :)

I saw your post, but as I have no proof that he did it, I can't take any action.

UNLESS, he does what I did when I cheated a few weeks ago and owns up it. If he does that I will deduct him 75 points for being naughty and he can hold his head up high. :)

If he doesn't, he will have to decide whether he can live with himself.
