Moley - you could just have the Northern Line bit open, but you'd have to corden off the passageways to the Piccadilly Line platforms, that's all. I would have thought that they're keeping it clear to allow access down there, and if they removing things as well then they don't want rubberneckers gawping.
I also think that this is why the Northern Line platforms are closed. The Piccadilly concourse and escalator are in use for salvaging what is down there to the surface. Once, the bomb site has been cleared, and it is just the repair job, then I would probably expect the Northern Line to re-open at Kings X.
I have heard of reports from a railway engineer that the Picc could be closed for a year due to structural damage outside of the tunnel (sewers, foundations). However, I think this is a very pessimistic worse case scenario, and may just be a completely false railway industry rumour. I would expect something along the line of 3-4months.
It seems the Circle/H&C/Distrcit closures could still be here in late August, while queing at Victoria tube ticket office I managed to read a poster in the office meant for staff with an update, this made it seem like it would be a long time before it would be open.

If these lines are still closed, will the charity run still go ahead or do we lose too much of the network?
I think that I may be able to swin the airfare now but I am worried about the hotel. If I come I will want to stay a week or so since I am paying so much$$. I email a retired police friend of mine who lives in Leighton Buzzard. He use to live in Radlett. I am hoping he can put me up for a few days. I will probably stay in Amersham where ya'll are going so I will need a room or bed there for thefirst night. I may get a hotel or B&B in London for the remainder. I will need to know for sure by the end of the month cause I have to purchase the non refundable air by the end.
Also, I hope I can do the 20 hours total run. Being a novice I am a Virgin at that! LOL.I look so forward to meet all of you and wish that we can make the BBC. That would be a dream for me! I am such an anglophile. I am listening to LBC radio streaming now and cant wait.
Last time I was there was for March right after Mardi Gras.

Well, the plan was to do as many stations as is possible on the day.
I would expect that to mean that we'd need to work around it.
Tried to make a page from me from the USA site but it wouldnt allow me. I was able to do a UK site but I think I would rather have it in dollars instead since it will confuse people over here.
Garda - Re the Justgiving pages, you're right about not being able to build a page from the US site - but you may find it useful to still build a page and tell your friends the system will take donations in Stirling - you could put a little currency convertor on your message - ie "Sponsor me $10 = £6, Sponsor me $20 = £11" etc etc
I've seen loads of Justgiving pages like this from marathon runners overseas who are taking part in UK events. You will really find it the easiest and fastest way to collect money for this event from the States, plus it gets to the charity quicker. I've already raised over £100 on my justgiving fundraising page.
I finally made the page with the UK link. justgiving.com/tubecop. I tried to explain the conversion of pounds . I hope it works. I found an airfare for about $950. I am working on hotel now. Was thinking about a B&B in zone 2 0r 3 for about 27 pounds per night.
OK It is official. I am coming on [date removed] and leaving on [date removed], 2005 . I just booked and paid (NON REFUNDABLE) for my airfare. [Then next two sentences removed by Tubeguru]. But seriously, I have the tickets and I am on my way. Site is up and dad and hubby were my first. I am still trying to get the police dept. to sponsor me so I can get some media coverage here to get money for the charity. I am following the news in UK closely! How many people are signed up for this? I look forward to meeting ya'll.
Im in the States right now until Aug 5th doing a camp with 45 other christian youth workers, I shall try and raise a bit of dollar out here from them, otherwise I wont be able to get too much due to other holidays up until the Day.

The official line is that it will take five days to get the lines reopen once the police have handing backed the crime sceens to TfL. Now, for the lines to still be closed when we look to do the Charity attempt would mean that the police would have to have had the sites under their control for at least six weeks - this would be very unusual for even a bombing but we will have to wait and see.
moley wrote:Having just considered the layout off Kings Cross, it is not possible to get to the Northern Line platforms without going via the Piccadilly Line concorse. Therefore until such time as the Police finish with the Piccadilly line site, it is unlikely that the Northern line will be stopping there.
Well I was wrong. Northern Line at Kings Cross open from today. TfL say that they won't be able to add to the service levels at Kings Cross "for a number of days"
I have now been through this thread and removed ALL references to the date as well as any sentences which refer to events happening in the same week which will give it away.
Please DO NOT mention the DAY or DATE of the challenge on this forum.
Thanks.
