Anyone heading off for a holiday this summer? Anywhere nice?
I'm going to Finland to see my Grandma (aww), for two weeks. It's usually a lot hotter there than it is here, but considering the weather we've got here... I'm actually glad to be escaping it.
Yourselves?

I'm off to Wales for two weeks from tomorrow. At this time of year, I don't miss the Tube at all!

On the week beginning 19th august I will be down in sunny Dorset, well Lyme Regis to be precise. Why go abroad when it will be just as hot here!
Although I will most likely not be on the beach but on the Westcountry's buses and trains.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!
Tangy.

I am in fact leaving in less than an hour, just thought I'd pop online to say goodbye to you all. Finland has free internet access at libraries nationwide (hurrah), so I'll no doubt be on once or twice during my hols.
My Gran tells me it was an arctic 17 Celsius there yesterday. That's half the temperature we had here...

Just returned from a week's hiking holiday in Ellmau, Austria, home of the Hartkaiserbahn, one of the longest funicular railways in the world.
Only 39 euros buys a week's pass for this, eight cable cars, and four chairlifts. Several of them are linked, and there is also a (free) Kaiserjet bus running between some of the bottom stations.
Putting this all together would make an unusual alternative challenge - the ability to run up & down mountains quickly being a definite asset!
