Random 15 Championship: Round 4

Post by tangy »

Welcome to the 2015/16 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map and/or London Connections Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone/s or network/s e.g. DLR, National Rail onto the challenge and these are known as "twist" rounds.

If anyone is not familiar with the standard rules (or scoring) for Random 15 challenges, they can be read here: http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm (for regulars the rules are the same as last year).

So let us announce the details for round 3.

When: Saturday 12th March 2016 at 12:30 GMT
Pre challenge meet up point: Highbury & Islington (HHY). Meet in ticket hall, street side of the ticket barriers.
Post challenge meet up: The Bricklayers Arms, Gresse Street (off TCR, the road).

The challenge: Round 4 of the Random 15 Championship is a "normal" round, therefore the stations generated will be on the LU network in zones 1 and 2 only.

Closures affecting the challenge:
Metropolitan: Wembley Park- Aldgate
TfL Rail: Closed throughout.

Abellio GA (Great Eastern): Extensive works, no trains within the London area. Trains starting/terminating Ingatestone.
c2c: No trains via Stratford, all trains to Fenchurch Street via West Ham.
FGW: No trains on Greenford branch, reduced service at Hanwell, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway and Acton Main Line.
South Eastern: No trains at Charing X, Waterloo East or Cannon Street. Trains diverted to Victoria, Blackfriars or stop short at London Bridge. No service between Charlton and London Bridge via Greenwich.
Thameslink: No trains between Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Holland Park: Station closed (pass through allowed).

Those engineering works listed are only the closures that might affect the challenge, there are further works (on National Rail) going on in other areas. Please check if travelling from further afield.

Hope to see you there.

Signed: Tangy
The BERC (Random 15 host).

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Unfortunately having leg issues at the moment, and my physio has advised no running, so I'll be sitting this one out.

I am heading to North Dulwich station for the parkrun and train will either arrive at 0811 or 0841
Do you think 19 mins is enough time to get to the start?

North Dulwich is actually closer to Brockwell park, so if you arrive there and it's looking too late, get over to Brockwell!

North Dulwich is reading as precisely 19 minutes away from the start on Google Maps.

I'd have thought you'd be better (if coming from Ashford) going via Vauxhall and Brixton to West Dulwich (which is 15 minutes away).

Thanks I looked on journey planner and it sent me Clapham to Victoria but doing it this way I should be able to get to West Dulwich for 0837 :)

Also looks like I might be able to get a bus if one comes P13 seems an option any other routes that go from West Dulwich towards the park on the South Circular?

The draw has been conducted and therefore the random generator has given us as a start station of... Highbury & Islington (HHY). Meet in ticket hall, street side of the ticket barriers.
