Counting meets Tumbleweed (so nobody can have a problem)

Can you identify a station from just a paving slab? Sadly, some people can

Counting meets Tumbleweed (so nobody can have a problem)

Post by The Orange One »

This is to satisfy both the Counting and Tumbleweed enthusiasts, or alternatively rile them both up.

To make a valid post in this game, you may:

1) Post an interesting fact related to the number of bells/weed you claim (according to Tumbleweed rules).
2) Alternatively, you may post an interesting fact about bells or tumbleweeds.
3) Alternatively, you may claim a number of bells or weed exactly one more than the number claimed in the last claim, be it bells or weed.
4) You may as an alternative move post a picture of a bell or a picture of a tumbleweed or a picture related to one of the interesting facts mentioned before.

Examples
1) 18 bells - 18 is the legal age for drinking in the UK
2) The tumbleweed is found in the desert
3) 19 bells (if the last claim was 18)

Other rules:
5) If an invalid claim is made, the clock is reset to zero and the number of bells and/or weed claimed resets to zero.
6) Consecutive posts are banned when posting according to rules 1 and 3, but you may post consecutively according to 2 and 4.

Scores will be kept according to Rule 1 and Rule 3 separately. I shall start. OK forget the scoring.

The earliest evidence of the use of bells comes from the 3rd millenium BC, in Ancient China.

1 bell

(1 is the smallest natural number and there's a host of other facts about it as well)

2 bells

Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells", originally written for more than 30 musicians, is currently touring in a version performed by just two musicians.

There, I've satisfied rules (1), (2) and (3) simultaneously. How about that?

Under rule (3), it appears that I can post 4 bells without waiting for 4 hours to elapse. So:

4 bells

I also note there is no rule forbidding consecutive posts in this game.

Ten trillion bells.

It also doesn't say anything about the amount of time that mus have passed in order to claim anything.

What rule are you claiming that under?

Under (1), the claim has to be valid under Tumbleweed rules (which it isn't), and you also needed to post an interesting fact about the number ten trillion (which you haven't). (2) clearly doesn't apply, and neither does (3), because 5 + 1 doesn't equal ten trillion.

However, I note that (3) only refers to "the last claim", not "the last valid claim". So I have no hesitation in claiming:

Ten trillion and one bells.

-37 bells.

This has descended into anarchy. I add the following three rules:

4) Consecutive posts are banned when posting according to rules 1 and 3, but you may post consecutively according to 2 and 6.
5) If an invalid claim is made, the clock is reset to zero.
6) You may as an alternative move post a picture of a bell or a picture of a tumbleweed or a picture related to one of the interesting facts mentioned before.

1 bell.

This is a picture of The Bell, one of my favourite pubs in Bath where I live. After it was sold by the previous owner, it was bought by 536 of its customers, fans and workers last July, including Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel.
