Sort of Railbenders, but not quite. Well, actually ...

Can you identify a station from just a paving slab? Sadly, some people can

I'm using the same NR website - are they using unofficial names? I got the Heathrow 1,2,3 name off there too

I can't recall seeing any distance signs on the underground, are they more for drivers than your average punter or am I just unobservant?

The "Longest station name" has nothing to do with an airport.

The answer is a place name which was to be found at a London Underground station. Not a trick question.

I've got a feeling the Baker Street signage on some of the archways mentions Aylesbury, would it be that for the furthest distance?

edit: just checked - they don't, or not where I thougt at least

Distances on LU are measured in kilometres from the sand drag at Ongar, and the signs generally appear every 200 metres. Black text on a white background.

I'd link to an example, but I can't find a photo containing one with a quick bit of Googling.

It's further from London than Aylesbury.

Three I can think of off the top of my head (before I resort to my source material)

2. Ely has three platforms.
7. IBM (International Business Machines)
9. Hope (There is one on the Hope Valley line, another on the Borderlands line and can't place the third one but I know there is)

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

That's the second-longest. Unless we have a massive argument about the longest.

2 - that's one of them.
7 - correct.
9 - Incorrect, unless there are TWO lots of three stations with the same name.

Maybe he is. I'll clarify what I'm looking for. The station name in each case is one word. It is the same word for all three stations.

No, as Newport, IOW closed in 1966. Nice try though.
