All 274
Just got into this tube challenge lark after seeing 'The Tube' with Geoffs 3rd go at it and followed up by downloading Metroland.
Have spoken to a few mates and showed them Metroland and they are right up for a crack at it.
Went to London for a recce last week. Checked out a few changes. Had a terrible head and dry throat after just 6 hours on the tube!
Presume this happens to everyone!
Seem to remember Peter Duncan doing this on Blue Peter in the mid 80s - anyone remember.
I have a route that could beat Geoff and Neil by a couple of minutes if everything went perfect but I think my changes are too tight. Just want to do it in a day to start with

Welcome to the Tube Challenge!
Doing it in a day is a good start. Hell, I haven't even managed that yet. But I will.
Good luck with your first attempt.

But, as the saying goes, it's all down to luck on the day, and praying that the signalling on the District Line branches doesn't sit down and sulk because of a bit of raintubeguru wrote:I've always maintained our record is beatable. I've got a route which I think can go 30 minutes faster.
You could probably do exactly the same route on x different occasions and come out with a different time each time.
Cheers,
Barry

Of course you could! That's a fundamental postulate of tube challenging.barrykas wrote: You could probably do exactly the same route on x different occasions and come out with a different time each time.

All 274?
It should be 275 or 273 according to Guinness...
(http://www.geofftech.co.uk/tubechalleng ... ch2005.doc)
Heathrow T4 must be done by bus.
And then there is the question on double Hammersmiths and Paddingtons as well... (check out the ongoing discussion under Tube Challenge Chat/New rules)

Hi asheshero, welcome to the forum.
If you've got a route that's around world record time before you've tried it a couple of times, you're doing far better than me!
Do you know the stations/connections well? it's easy to make dumb mistakes with the best route in the world if you've never been there before.
I think I have a route that's 30 mins faster also, on a good day....
whatever that means in LUL language. Although there have been really few delays when I've been on recently. Are they getting better, or am I just picking good days?

Yesterday was particularly bad in the evening. At one point, there were delays on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Victoria Lines.tpfkar wrote:I think I have a route that's 30 mins faster also, on a good day....whatever that means in LUL language. Mind you, with any luck the Gunnersbury blockade at the start of April should help improve signalling reliability on the Richmond branch.
Cheers,
Barry
