Post by palkanetoijala31 »

I was looking at the map and thinking can i make a route where i didnt have to visit a single station twice or double back i know some interesting runs or buses would have to be used.Kings Cross is a bug bear as is Woodford and West Ham allthough i think i can cover that 1 out.

Actually Marylebone to Amersham turbo does not stop at any of the stations in between so in theroy u havent visited them. my theroy plan was to start at Epping go to Woodford go round hainault loop bus from Wanstead to South Woodford go to leyton and walk to Leytonstone High road and work in a Wood Grange Park to Manor park to go to Upminster.

A lot stop but if you are looking at a timetable for today then you'll find more don't as there is engineering works on the main line.

As I noticed on Thursday morning, the first Chiltern service from Amersham (0552) is next stop Harrow, although obviously I caught the following Met line train. This is normally the second Met, but on Thursday the first Met of the morning had been cancelled, so there were a surprisingly large number of unhappy people squeezing on to the Chiltern service. If it had stopped at Chalfont & Latimer it would have been quite useful.

The only way to get extra stops put on a Chiltern is to have a member of staff give a stop order to the driver at the request of control so at that time of the morning, there might not have been too many staff around to facilitate such a stop. :(

Under the 'track sharing' rule, over what portions of the line does visiting a Met station on a Chiltern service count as a legitimate visit?

Between Moor Park and Amersham I would say.

I would also say that Harrow-on-the-Hill would count as a call too.

Except that no Chiltern trains stop at Moor Park.

That is a good point, has anyone done a GWR attempt starting/finishing at Epping or is the Hainault loop too much off a problem!
