palkanetoijala31 - Richard Cromwell (8 points). Richard Cromwell was Lord Protector of England, not monarch. Plus, he became Protector in 1658.

uefacup81 - Lady Jane Grey. I struggled with this one. At first,I decided to rule this an incorrect answer as her accession to the throne has always been disputed. Plus Edward VI tried to alter the succession made law by his father, Henry VIII in the Third Act of Succession. His letters patent were not considered sufficient to overrule the right of Henry's heir to the throne - his daughter by Catherine of Aragon, Mary. Therefore, so far as I am concerned, LJG was "Queen" of England in name only. However, having thought about it overnight, I feel that it's not conclusive enough one way or the other. Therefore, uefacup81 gets half a point for trying. BUT then if he gets half a point then that halves his score, which isn't fair, so sorry, 8 points. (I was typing this as I thought it through - bear with me).

With regard to Bow Road/Hoover, it's as clear cut as the clearest thing that was ever cut. There is no property on a Monopoly board called "Bow Road" and J. Edgar Hoover was never president of the USA. Both are 100% wrong answers.

OK, Lady Jane Grey - are you telling me that the website of the Monarchy has the absolute final say in this? Who wrote that site? The Queen?

I am still torn as to whether Lady Jane Grey was ever OFFICIALLY the Queen of England. Let's look at the pros and cons.

Pros

- She was "proclaimed" Queen and "accepted" by the Council as Queen
- Edward VI issued letters patent in an attempt to overrule the Third Act of Succession so he could name her as his heir
- Enough people believe she was Queen, thus implying that there was some kind of legitimacy which has remained in our conscience all these years

Cons:

- She was never crowned Queen
- Her accession to the throne was in direct contradiction to the law (Third Act of Succession), which many scholars have argued can not be overturned by letters patent, even if issued by a reigning king.
- She was more or less coerced into it by the Duke of Northumberland and was an unwilling claimant
- As the website you quoted says, on Edward's death the country rallied to Mary, leaving Jane with no support

On the whole, I am minded to side with the cons. However, I can see an argument in the pros too, so because this will just become a pointless argument, I'll go with your suggestion and award you three points for it. I'll have to just recalculate the scores ...
