You will soon be able to somehow apply your railcard to your Oystercard to give you an off peak reduction in the capped fare. So the cap for tube travel in zones 1 and 2 will be £3.10 instead of £4.80. Which is rather nice.

i was pleasantly surprised by this as well. i don't know whether NR keep the numbers of the railcards and their owners on record, but if they do that could be one way this could be achieved.
anyway, lets hope this is started soon, should save me a bit of money with it now being cheaper to always just buy the return train ticket into london and use oyster from there, rather than buy the combined travelcard sometimes when i know i'll be using the tube a lot. only two single journeys in Zones 1-2 and the rest will be free!
