Interesting - looking at the Lumo timetable, on Saturdays there's a 10:25 from King's Cross that gets to Newcastle at 13:15, with a return at 19:34 getting back at 22:26.

Should give enough time to do a T&W challenge, or even makes a "Random 15 Away Day" in Newcastle a possibility!

As I was up in Newcastle for work a couple of days this week I couldn't miss the opportunity to have a go at this one.

After leaving the office for the day, I had dinner at the Spoons on the Quayside, then dropped my case off at the other Travelodge (the one further from the office!) and headed up to Manors to get on the network. Over to Monument, to catch a train up to the airport to start the Challenge there. Only there was already a large number of people on the northbound platform who had been waiting sometime and the DMI was being "unhelpful", so when a southbound train arrived in the other platform I opted to head for South Hylton and start there instead. However taking the Metro to Sunderland rather than National Rail meant it was already 19:30 by the time I started the watch.

Travelled back up from South Hylton to Pelaw where I found I had a 17 mimute wait for the train to South Shields! Doubled back there and by the time I got back to Newcastle it was already going dark. Continued on round the loop through Whitley Bay (where it was foggy as well as dark!). By the time I reached Manors again it was after 10pm and, realising that it would be at least another hour by the time I'd been to St James's, then up to the Airport and back, I terminated there and returned to the hotel with 2:30 on the clock.

If I go up to Newcastle with work again, I will have another go!
