Nice-looking station! Where is it?

Can you identify a station from just a paving slab? Sadly, some people can

Station Yankee - answered

Post by RobbieM »

Okay folks - Yankee was Conwy.

Well done to tubeguru for sending in a correct answer. No-one else entered, not even those who saw the name of the station before it was removed from the picture...

Zulu soon...

Indeed, the nation’s consciences remain unseared. Some of them, anyway…

Righto, here's the final one in the Phonetic Alphabet, Station Zulu. And once again, I left the station name signs visible. But they're so far away that you can't read the name on them...

PMs please. Loadsa them!

As it's Zulu, shouldn't it be "Fousands of 'em"?

Initially confused by your comment, I looked it up, and now I’m enlightened. Yes, I agree!

PMs, please, Fousands of ‘em!

So far, I’ve had one…

Station Zulu - answered

Post by RobbieM »

Well done to RJSRdg, tubeguru, trains500 and greatkingrat for correctly identifying Station Zulu as Ardrossan Town. (One incorrect guess was also received, but I won't name the entrant!)

Righto folks - soon and very soon, we're gonna have not just a new station, but a new alphabet! Woo-hoo! :D :D

Stand by for an alphabet based on (slightly-unusual, perhaps) musical instruments, beginning with one which Mozart wrote a piece for...

Station Armonica

Post by RobbieM »

It’s the new alphabet! We’ll be naming our next 26 nice-looking stations after musical instruments, some of which may be unusual ones. Like the first one – it’s Station Armonica. And I remembered to block out the station sign this time…

What’s an armonica, anyway? Well, it’s basically Benjamin Franklin’s answer to making an instrument out of running your wet fingers around the top of wine glasses. Perhaps he imbibed a little too much, so he turned the glasses on their side, flattened them into bowls, and attached them to a lathe-like device. Quite an interesting history if you want to look it up for more details. And you can also listen to Mozart’s K356 Adagio for Glass Armonica.

Then again maybe you just want to work out the station. PMs, please!
