Happy to host this again- I have missed all the fun of organising a tube challenge (also you all seem to think I make an excellent job of doing so)!

The traditional date for this (the Friday after Whitsun bank holiday)- which this year is the 4th June may be a bit problematic this year as said bank holiday has been moved to the Friday for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend. Although, looking at the TfL 6 month summary of engineering works there is (so far) no closures listed on this extended weekend affecting zone 1 lines or stations.

This will also be the first Zone 1 Challenge Cup with the Battersea Power Station branch, so will be a new configuration and leaderboard. The cup itself has slowly been gathering dust on top of the bookcase in my lounge!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

It will be good to be back especially as the rules on masks are officially removed from TfL from Tomorrow (24th Feb). I see 2 issues with the 3rd June possible engineering works but unlikely. As it’s Jubilee weekend central London will be very busy and due to the nature of the event there will be increased security.

At the pub after Random 15 it was discussed that due to the Platinum Jubilee weekend that this event be moved to the following week (Friday 10th June) with the final round of the R15 the day after.

This will mean the Zone 1 event would be held on a schoolday and thus those younger members at school/college would be unable to attend however it may help those coming from further afield to secure affordable accommodation- without the tourists, especially if overnighting for both events.

Thoughts please.

I can't attend Friday 10th June due to Hitchin Beer Festival but could potentially pop down for post event pub.

I see the 10th as being a more sensible option, as there will be far fewer tourists around and no chance on engineering works. (I also can't make the 3rd, but can the 10th.)

Oh, and I apologise in advance. I just booked flights for Norway and Sweden for parkrun the previous weekend, so that's all I will be going on about all day

Tangy mentioned the usual Liverpool Street meet up on Saturday R15, but having thought about this should it not be a fixed start at BPS? That certainly gets my vote

I don't think so. Half the fun of the Zone 1 challenge appears to be the spontaneous route planning. A pre-planned starting station removes that element. But I'll go with what everyone else wants.

(It's fine selecting it as the start station for a Random 1519 as all the other stations are unknown and there's still the route planning element.)

Zone 1 number one was preset as Vauxhall - not sure if any others have been?

The final round of the current Random 15 championship has now been set for 11th June. Is the Zone 1 championship definitely on the 10th then?
