Hope it went well! Technically with the extra 568m it was the first ever Brighton ultramarathon!Soup Dragon wrote: ↑12 Sep 2021, 06:36 I took it very easy at Riddlesdown ahead of the Brighton Marathon today.

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
I think I ran a perfect race and was spot on my pace throughout. Had it not been for the extra course length I would have made it! Sadly I badly cramped in the last 568m that shouldn't have been and then spent almost three hours in the Medical Centre trying to recover, the cramp itself lasted over an hour on and off and was excruciatingly painful. But overall I'm really happy to have gone just under 3:52 in my first (probably last) marathon!,jamesthegill wrote: ↑12 Sep 2021, 20:13Hope it went well! Top effort Antony!
The only press reports I can find about the distance issue don't say how it happened. Any ideas, anyone?

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
Speculation from one of the pacers puts the turnaround point up the hill towards Rottingdean (between the 9 and 10 mile marker) as the culprit, so runners would've had an extra 264m of climbing included in their day.

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
The press reports blame human error, the course was identical to 2019, but somehow the marker was placed further up the hill in Rottingdean.
I've now had a chance to look at my medical release form and I actually spent 3h25m in the medical centre.
It's embarrasing that Brighton cocked up so badly, they also failed to apply for a UK Athletics licence for the event, meaning that athletes trying to get a qualifying time for London, their results won't count. For lesser mortals like me results will not appear in Run Britain rankings.
On a positive note the medical staff were awesome, and I can't thank them enough for what a great job they did
