Off-peak running time seems to now be about 18 minutes.

Unfortunately, my planned route misses it by three minutes!

The 384 route's looking a lot less twisty now

I'm not sure it's quite as simplistic as that!!

I thought that, but he didn't say the record, just the event, so for the "average" completer it may well knock a few minutes off their overall time, at least in theory!
Held some Alternative Challenge records for a long time.
Doesn't any more.

That's very true, and might well be the case if travelling in one direction, but travelling the other way might soon see those few minutes disappear (or alternatively provide an even bigger gain!)...!

I'd need to check some other times, but my initial check suggests it doesn't connect well at High Barnet with northbound Northern Line trains which connected out of MHE services.

The 384 is every 20 minutes, and MHE is every 15 minutes, so some will connect better than others.

I looked into this yesterday. The best connections appear to be with the XX57 from MHE, then the XX12, XX27 and the worst (missing connection by 3 minutes) is the XX42.

That said, I think the gain on my current method of catching a different bus to Sainsbury's and running the rest of the way is marginal, but it would save a tough run!

On a similar note, there are now extra buses between West Ruislip and Ickenham Station Approach with the fairly new 278 route running every 12 minutes.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Tangy.
