Well done everyone who completed. Good to know that if I'd carried on then I might have snuck into third place :P
Not a plus one

Great idea, but I love that stuff so much I'd probably eat it all before I got to the starting station.

Yup.

Yes, good fun. My camera battery died at Upton Park so ended up using my phone anyway. Oh well, one less thing to carry around next year.

If you wanted tales of woe to accompany your Parks Challenge write-up, then this is probably the best place!
I bumped into Kevin and Jenny prior to the start and then didn’t see anyone else for the rest of the challenge. Starting from Chiswick Park, I caught an eastbound District Line service towards Ravenscourt Park, where the train I wanted was running about a minute late. I then changed to the Piccadilly Line at Ealing Common after a brief hold at Acton Town in order to visit Park Royal.

Within 4m20 of leaving, I’d run to Hangar Lane and got the photo of Park Royal before continuing down the Central Line to Holland Park. This also went quite well and had practically no wait for the train to arrive. I then bailed at Marble Arch to catch the 414 to Hyde Park Corner and after a short wait at London Hilton, I got off, got the photo and went straight on.

I had messed up the door position a bit but made up for it with a swift turnaround at Green Park, where the Victoria Line train arrived about 90 seconds after it should have. I ticked off St. James’ Park and then made my way to the Southern platforms at Victoria NR, dodging loads of people with suitcases. I had a few mins before the train left and this was part of a slight gamble I took, using NR to get to Wimbledon. I was subjected to an 8 mins wait at Clapham Junction although I made the District Line in good time at Wimbledon.

I then tried and just about failed at Wimbledon Park in an attempt to make the same train I’d just got off and I then went up Southfields and changed there for an Edgware Road terminator. After a typically slow run through Earl’s Court, I eventually made it to Paddington, where I gave a thumbs up to the cleaner who saw me running and pointed towards the wet floor sign. That was quicker than expected although when I got to the Circle/H&C platforms, I had a 6 mins wait.

At Westbourne Park, I was subjected to a 4 mins wait for a 328 before a 6 mins wait for the Bakerloo line at Kilburn Park. Queens Park went ok from memory and then I went up to Stonebridge Park, which went well before getting back on the platform to find that it had been de-trained briefly before we were all let back on. I then bailed at Kenton to run to Northwick Park, through a strong headwind only to just miss a train to Amersham.

I had a 7 mins wait at this point, which then saw the Uxbridge train behind mine pull in at the time mine was due in. I then had a 15 mins wait for a Chesham train, which also disappeared, only to return to the station to be greeted with 8 mins for an Uxbridge train and 12 mins for the next Chesham train. I left Northwick Park 24 mins after I should have left and after 3h20 of smooth-running, it all went wrong thanks to a signal failure at Harrow-On-The-Hill!

I had practically no wait at Moor Park and then 30 seconds wait for a Jubilee at Wembley Park to take me to Canons Park. After a short wait for a 340 bus to Edgware, I ran in and just missed a train by seconds leading to a 3 mins wait. I also had a 2 mins wait at Belsize park where I realised I had messed up my route after only allowing 5 mins for Warren Street – Regents Park when I was thinking of Great Portland Street – Regents Park.

After a quick change to the sub-surface at KXSP, I then ran Great Portland Street – Regents Park, only to be greeted with a 4mins wait. This was followed with my customary nightmare change at Oxford Circus which was just plain slow and put me in the wrong door position for Warren Street. After a 2mins wait, it was onto the Northern Line for a nap up to Woodside Park before heading down to Tufnell Park. After not having to wait for a lift, I ended up with a 90 secs wait for the 4 bus as it was at traffic lights.

A 3 mins wait followed at Finsbury Park saw me get on what was an eventually rammed Piccadilly Line train to Holborn. A decent change was for nothing as I had a 4 mins wait to get to Newbury Park, followed by a 5mins wait to get back into central London. A 6-minute wait greeted me at Mile End where I got a H&C service to Upton Park before getting straight on to a District Line train to finish at Elm Park.

A much-needed pint at The Barking Dog was in order and you know you’ve had a shocker when upon arrival at the Prince William Henry, you’re asked to go to the bar and get a drink!

To put this into perspective, here are the times I had originally scheduled to visit the stations and the times I actually visited them!
Chiswick Park: 10:05 – 9:05
Ravenscourt Park: 10:11 – 9:11
Park Royal: 10:33 – 9:34
Holland Park: 10:56 – 9:55
Hyde Park Corner: 11:22 – 10:12
Green Park: 11:27 – 10:16
St. James’ Park: 11:36 – 10:26
Wimbledon Park: 12:09 – 11:00
Westbourne Park: 12:58 – 11:52
Kilburn Park: 13:12 – 12:07
Queens Park: 13:17 – 12:16
Stonebridge Park: 13:28 – 12:28
Northwick Park: 13:45 – 12:45
Moor Park: 14:07 – 13:32
Wembley Park: 14:30 – 13:55
Canons Park: 14:41 – 14:05
Belsize Park: 15:05 – 14:43
Regents Park: 15:24 – 15:05
Woodside Park: 16:01 – 15:44
Tufnell Park: 16:19 – 16:00
Finsbury Park: 16:34 – 16:15
Newbury Park: 17:24 – 17:08
Upton Park: 17:59 – 17:49
Elm Park: 18:21 -18:10

Turns out, I had an updated route which I had forgotten about that would have better incorporated Regents Park and instead of 8:16, was good for 7:51. It gets worse!!
It also transpires that I had allowed 7 mins for the Warren Street to Regents Park run as well!

It may still be too early to tell whether Christmas Park Challenge 2020 will go ahead or not, which is a shame as they have announced the cancellation of Winter Wonderland this year and would've made the event slightly more beara... I mean enjoyable
