Snake Challenge - The Return

Post by The Orange One »

I was thinking it's about time the challenge that's been on hiatus longest ought to return... so I thought let's organise an event for it.

Start point: Epping
Finish point: Heathrow Terminal 5
Date: Saturday 9th November 2019
Time: tbc but likely first teams depart about 11 - I believe there's a handy Roding Valley parkrun nearby for the parkrun inclined? Teams depart every 20 minutes to coincide with loop trains.
Post Challenge Meet: Either The Green Man (Hatton X) or something else as otherwise advised...

Route: Epping  Woodford  Stratford via Hainault  Waterloo  Elephant and Castle  Stockwell  Victoria  Mile End  Liverpool Street via Bethnal Greem  Moorgate  Bank  Holborn  Leicester Square  Charing Cross  Oxford Circus  Tottenham Court Road  Euston/Warren Street  King's Cross St. Pancras  Baker Street  Wembley Park via Jubilee  Rayners Lane  Ealing Common  Ealing Broadway  Bond Street  Green Park  South Kensington/Gloucester Road  High Street Kensington  Earl's Court  Acton Town via District  Heathrow Terminals 2&3 via Heathrow Terminal 4  Heathrow Terminal 5

Anyone?

Parkrun - Raphael: xcooler123
Snake Challenge: xcooler123
Post-challenge - The Green Man, Hatton X (TBC): xcooler123

Without having to trawl back through the pages myself, can anyone advise how long this is likely to take?

About 6 and a half hours:

I'm interested, but won't be able to confirm until nearer the time.

Same as Nick for me - it will be FA Cup 1st round day so depends who Exeter draw and what day the game is on...

Sorry not going to make it as R15 is the week after. And can’t come up for both. Which is a shame as it’s a fun challenge.

I think I still have the fastest time @ 5 hours 55 mins set 01/09/2006 as part of tubefest.

BTW if I can make this I will probably do Raphael parkrun for 3 reasons...
1) It's one of the 5 I have left to do in "Londone"
2) All tarmac course whereas Roding Valley is mainly grass and we are moving into "mud" season by then
3) Already done Roding Valley twice

So once I know for sure if I can make it anyone else is welcome to join me at Raphael (1018 TFL rail from Romford gets you to Epping for 1113)

I actually would be tempted to do this as never done before I would not do Raphael though as been there done that Harlow just north of Epping would be my prefered parkrun. I be happy to team up with anyone as well 😁

Just want to clarify that we don't need to change at Warren Street as haven't previously?

You can either do

1. Northern TCR to Warren Street, Vic Warren Street to KXSP
2. Northern TCR to Euston, Vic Euston to KXSP
3. Northern TCR to Euston, Northern Euston to KXSP

Same stations whichever way you go.

Very much a "maybe" on this one for me. Will make a decision closer to the time, but its a challenge / route that I haven't done previously so would be interested to do it.
